Black Friday Game Plan

In case you missed the memo, Black Friday (BF) through to Cyber Monday is one of the most powerful promotional weekends in the business and marketing calendar!

The National Bank of Australia confirmed in 2022, an estimated 7.1 billion in revenue was spent across the weekend of all shopping weekends!

With three and a half weeks to get your game plan in action, let's look at some tactics you can use to get your slice of the pie.

  1. Stand out from the crowd: Given that it's such a saturated time with thousands of businesses shouting out for consumer's attention; now is your time to step it up and stand outside the box. Get creative, and consider your brand story; what makes it different from every other brand on the market? Use this to your advantage and create an exciting campaign that reminds your customers why they brought your products or services in the first place.

  2. You do not need to offer a discount, particularly if your business does not typically offer discounts in general. If you still want to jump in on the action, you can look at alternatives such as, free shipping or a complimentary gift with purchase.

  3. Social media and email marketing will be your ticket to getting consumer attention. Once you have your offer sorted over the next week, start creating some teasers across your social media, and if your email marketing list needs some growth, create some buzz around signing up new people so that you can fully optimise this tactic across the BF and cyber weekend!

  4. The Big Day: Switch it up and get in first; you do not necessarily need to have your campaign run on the weekend. Get in first and launch your promotion in the week leading up to BF. Remember, people only have so much money to spend, so if you are first in with the goods, you will likely be the one to get the cut over your competitors.
